A Plague of tics

In the Piece of writing tilted "A Plague of tics" described the life of a male with OCD. Although I've heard of this disorder before I never actually was introduced to it. In this piece of writing the author lets you take a look at the world as a person who has OCD.   The author does an excellent job with giving depth details for the reader to picture in their mind what the character is doing.  Reading this article showed me how much of a pain it would be to be diagnosed with this disorder.  As describe in the article, a walk home from school is even hard for a person with this disorder. In order for him to walk home he has to touch everything a certain amount of times. Then once he finally makes it home he wonders if he touched everything in the right place, and if he didn't feel as if he touched the phone pole in the correct spot he will have to sneak out the house and  touch the pole in what he think is the correct spot. Which will lead him to start all over again from that point. I found this article very informing about the disorder OCD. I never knew the complications of this disorder. Now that I am informed with this disorder when ever coming into a interaction a person with this disorder, I will have more consideration and Patience.

Research topic: American Standards Of Beauty

The topic of my research paper is “American Standards of Beauty towards Women.” I wanted to research the history of women and how they were portrayed to the community in comparison of today.  A question that I propose to answer throughout my research paper is; why does the media celebrate only one image? I want to answer this question in my research paper because; my paper is based around the images that the media presents to women. Women are different; they come in all different shapes and sizes, and complexions. Why it is that one look is only appreciated. I believe that it’s so many women and girls who are depress because their hair is not long enough, or because they’re not light enough, and etc. The media plays an important role in all of this.
My thesis statement is “Why do Women/Girls look to the media/entertainment for the next beauty image?”  My thesis statement is going to be shaped around that sentence. I want to prove that women are mentally force to dress they way society want us, one of the ways that this is persuaded through the media. I plan to prove that beauty images are taken so harshly towards women. The media takes this plastic, artificial and size one looking female, and tells every woman in the word that they have to look that way.
From what I researched from books and articles subjects are, “Women and Their Body Images,   Women in the workplace , and What else is beauty other what the media has to say. All of the listed above subjects are what is discussed in majority of the books and articles I read. In the book tiled “body Image” written by Kathern  Hocks. This book discuss the different  figures  that women have between Caucasians and African Americans. Hocks also mentions the  both races in today’s world get their images from the “hottest celebrity that is out.”  In comparison to the women in the 1960’s were  more known for natural beauty. She said “ Did the woman on the sitcom  I love Lucy or Good times, wear  a bunch of makeup or revealing cloths.  This book is what I found most interesting because of how she compared beauty towards women in different times.
In my research I want to find out why was women in the  70’s or 60’s were represented with more class and  respect, than the  women are represented today? This confuses me because if time fashion doesn’t do anything but repeat itself. Why is that, as the years go by women are betrayed to be more revealing and sexy when the great ones before them had more respect for their physical appearance.
Some arguments I plan to right to show throughout my paper is to  prove that women do feel  like their force to look a certain way because the want to it in. I will also argue that being different is never celebrate in the media world. For my research paper I have looked up 3 books and 1 scholarly article. The information that I have already found was very helpful to my paper.  All four sources discussed my topic in good detail. So far I have a lot of information to bring up some fascinating facts and topics!
